Draw a line

There are always different meanings on different words and phrases that bring about a different thought process from us.

I came across a phrase the other day that resonated with me greatly. It’s a phrase that changed my thinking. When we ‘draw a line in the sand’ we put a stop to it. There are lots of phrases, which if used within their rightful context become relevant in our lives, as long as we’re choosing to use them.

When I think about my life, from where I was all those years ago, I drew a line in the sand. I turned things around so that my life would change for the better. I put a stop to the life I had and created the life I needed. Just because something exists, doesn’t mean we have to go along with it. If something isn’t working, we can change it.

When we draw a line in the sand, we’re moving on, we’re putting a stop to that one thing. So if you’re at that stage where you need to change things in your life, then perhaps it’s time for you too to ‘draw a line in the sand.’

  1. When I think of drawing a line in the sand I think about leaving things behind. All the stuff that has cluttered up my life and is now useless.

    1. Thanks Lisa. When we leave anything behind, in your case all the things that have cluttered your life, you turn your back on that part of your life and that’s good.

As long as you’re not introducing new clutter, I think you’ll do just fine.

  2. I think we all get to the point where we say enough is enough in various scenarios and points in our lives, some big and some not so big.

Nonetheless each decision is an important one. Yours was a fundamental one and it’s good to blog about it and promote thought in this way.

    1. Thank you. I think you’re right, we all probably do, but I’m not sure how many of us do actually draw a line on our past. It’s a very difficult thing to do.

In my own case my drive to know and understand my experiences, drove me to turn my back on all the negativity associated with my physical problems. It was time for me to draw the line. So pleased I did.
