  1. I guess the sole test for any given writer or artist is sincerity. To put on paper what’s on your mind and in your heart; at least you can pretend to be free.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, I find writing a cathartic experience and believe the more we write; the more free we can be in our minds, but we have to continue to work at it.

I think a lot of us write so that we can escape from our lives. I write so that I can understand my life. I also believe it depends on what we’re writing about.

Unfortunately, writing a book with fictional characters isn’t working through our experiences; unless we use those fictional characters to talk about and work through our experiences. That I believe may work.

  2. I like Hemingway’s writing. it is brutally honest and direct. He wrote what he saw and what he experienced, without all the gloss and fabrication of so many authors.

    1. I like Hemingway’s writing too which is what attracted me to this particular quote. His quote ties in with my writing.

I believe it’s important whether we’re writing or talking to be open and honest about what we deal with and our experiences. It’s how others get to know us and how we get to know other people. You can’t put a price on that.
