“While you can’t control your experiences, you can control your explanations.”

I understand that adversity is built into the structure of our society, my experiences are indicative of that.

But if I rationalized my experiences and casually tried to explain them, I think I’d be intellectually disingenuous with myself.

Thanks Tim. Yes I understand why you would be disingenuous with yourself, but if we are to be honest and transparent about our experiences, we must talk about them in the way they happen and that’s not always easy to do or be controlled.

It’s never easy to put ourselves out there in this way, but if we are to speak our own truth and be honest with ourselves, particularly if our experiences are at the hands of someone else, particularly around physical or emotional abuse.

I feel we must. Sometimes it’s not about control.
