  1. Yes, it does take on a life of it’s own when you’re trying to maintain the story behind a lie. I grew up in a world where we had to learn how to lie straight to someone’s face without blinking an eye, so I was very good at it.

The biggest problem is that eventually you get sick and tired of living that lie, especially when there isn’t any valid reason for it; other than trying to protect people like my parents who shouldn’t have been protected from, in the long run.

If any one of us had ever spoken up and told the truth about what we were living like, we may have been split and put into foster care, but it would have been better than the hell we were going through most of the time.

I’m just so tired of living the lie especially when it makes my life a living hell, but works great for everyone else. It would just be fantastic if I could live in the truth like everyone else.

  2. Thanks Randy. Yes the trouble with a lie is that we will spend a lifetime covering our back so as not to get caught or found out. A white lie is sometimes accepted if it’s a mean of protecting someone, but generally lies aren’t a great way to live.

I can’t help but think with the right people in our lives Randy, there would be no need to live that ‘lie’ anymore. I think that’s part of the problem, the other part is that we’re so used to lying, we continue to lie, or live a lie.

I agree that as children we see and learn from our parents and take those habits into our adult life, but there comes a time for us where we must take control back and change the way we do things.

If ‘living a lie makes your life a living hell’ then perhaps it’s time to think about how you want to live your life and how you might make those changes.

    1. Yes, I’m facing those decisions now and will more than likely have to make the ones that won’t be pleasant, for everyone else, but will be the right thing for me.

      1. Randy, yes you’re the only one that matters here. If your life isn’t working out you need to change it. If that means moving then than needs to happen.

There is no point us sugar coating our lives to suit, because it’s easier and we don’t have to make those decisions. In the longer term it’s never easier.

You have to do what’s right for you and make the decision.

  3. This quote pretty much sums up the slippery slope we embark upon when we lie and that is why liars usually get found out.

They tell lie after lie and because it’s not the truth, they simply forget what lies they’ve told, so they trip themselves up. As the old saying goes, ‘honesty is the best policy.’

    1. Thanks, yes you’re absolutely right. ‘Honesty is the best policy.’

The world would be much better, we would all be much better with each other, if we were first honest with ourselves and then honest with everyone else.

  4. In my opinion, most liars think that life is a scam, to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. The only reason why I pay attention, is to try to understand the logic behind it.

But many people eat those lies and make the liar much stronger. It makes you want to turn around to see if anyone is telling the truth.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, you’re right. I also think it sad that people choose to live their lives through lies, particularly the big black lies and bring others down to their level in doing so and those lies are then believed.

As far as the universe is concerned, they will and can never get away with telling lies, because lies will always catch them out. It’s also an honesty issue, because there is no honesty and that harms the issue of trust.
