How we see life

Something inspirational:

“The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be.”

  1. I agree with this.

I always see the past better than it is now and if I could go back I would relive it just the way it was. The future looks worse than it is now and the present isn’t too bad but not as good as it used to be.

    1. I love your honesty Lisa.

I wouldn’t want to live my past, as I had no control over my past. How I lived my life wasn’t down to me. The present is getting better for me but not out of the woods yet. I am working on making my future better.

  2. Yes, I can definitely understand what you’re saying, since it sounds like what I’ve been doing for the majority of my life.

I’m just now trying to move beyond my old way of thinking and work on a better future.

    1. You’re probably not completely unique on this one Randy. I’m sure we’ve all done it! I hope trying to move beyond your old way of thinking is working for you.

  3. I think this is human nature and something that we really need to think about to change.

It reminds me of the latest Woody Allen film, Midnight in Paris when two of the characters wanted to live in earlier times which they looked on with affection.

One of them realised he needed to face up to the present and the other actually stayed in past.

    1. I agree. This is exactly how many of us will see life.

I also agree that we need to think about these things before we can look to change. It’s a perception thing.
