The simple things

Something inspirational:

“I believe we would be happier to have a personal revolution in our individual lives and go back to simpler living and more direct thinking. It is the simple things of life that make living worthwhile, the sweet fundamental things such as love and duty, work and rest, and living close to nature.”

  1. Yes! The simpler things are easier and nicer. I wish we could go back in time to when things were easier.

One thing that sticks out in my mind is when we use to send actual hand written letters to each other. I have a box full of letters my cousin and I use to send each other.

It’s more personal and it’s not out there for the world to see.

    1. I agree with you Lisa, writing hand-written letters is one way that life was simple, when you and I were growing up. I used to do that too with a pen pal in America.

Not needing to have the next best thing is a simple need I live by now. Of course when I was growing up we didn’t have the next big thing, so it wasn’t an option, but it’s easy to want and to have.

  2. Very well said. I think life was simpler when we were growing up. We didn’t even lock our doors very often. Certainly not every day like now.

  3. Nice saying. I often think about times when we were young without computers, mobile phones, the internet and other modern day ‘necessities.’

I love watching old black and white movies too and wonder if those days really were simpler and more pleasurable.

    1. Are they really necessities? We seemed to manage quite happily without them. I believe society has too much now. We’ve gone completely the other way which isn’t good either.

I believe earlier times were far more simple and less complicated. Statistically they have gone on to prove that people were much happier. I would go with it.
