Time for us to accept help

It doesn’t matter that we all deal with different things; the problem is we will always have something that we deal with.

Some of us will find those things easy, some of us will find those things difficult. Some of us will want help and will be open to suggestions, whilst others will not be open to any suggestions at all. They would rather go it alone. For anyone with a problem it can be hard to accept help, because to accept help is to accept that she or he has a problem and society teaches us we mustn’t talk about our problems.

Ever since I was a little girl although I never got to sort out my issues, it didn’t stop me from wanting to talk. For me it was more about trying to clear my issues, more than the issue itself; but working through things in my mind saved me from countless situations involving stress.

We must want to help ourselves first. I also believe that for some of us, although not altogether comfortable would rather stay where we are emotionally, because to admit we have a problem means having to take control and that part we’re not always comfortable with.

The first time is always the most difficult but rewarding once we’ve done it. Talking about our issues allows us to change our life for the better and through experience it helps us face responsibility. I am of the opinion though that not to face responsibility, means we will never change.

It also means we will stay living in the past, whilst we continue to blame the world for our problems. We need to put our trust in those who try to help us and accept that we perhaps need help.

  1. I totally agree with the part about having to want to help ourselves first. Everything you have said here is very true and very wise. Great post.

  2. I thought of someone in particular when I read this and I think you’ll know who I’m talking about. He has problems, but is the type not to believe he does and therefore wouldn’t even consider seeking help. His antics bother most people I know that know him.

I believe in seeking help for our problems if we can’t figure it out on our own and make changes.

I agree with you on all accounts here also. We do need to recognize we have a problem and accept help that is out there, even from friends and family.

    1. Ditto. Pleased we agree Lisa. It’s a shame that most of us will continue to live with our problems rather than talk to someone about them.

  3. Once again this problem about getting help with problems is my problem. You have a very wise perspective of how people work.
