A Charles Cook quote

Something inspirational:

“Your deepest roots are in nature. No matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked with the rest of creation.”

  1. Somewhere underneath the madness we know this to be true, but we behave like we really don’t believe it.

Either way, we are linked with nature for better or worse.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, ‘madness’ is a good adjective to use to describe what’s happening in society, in the world right now.

As you say, although we know it to be true, I’m not sure how many of us really care. If we cared, we do something about changing our lifestyles to fit in with nature. It’s not how we function.

In these concerning times, it’s exactly what we should be doing.

  2. We are linked with nature but we don’t respect nature. I hope when we come through this terrible pandemic, we change how we interact with the natural world.

We must start to behave like we are a small part with it, not that it is ours to exploit.

    1. Thank you. I love your response in its entirety. ‘I hope when we come through this terrible pandemic, we change how we interact with the natural world’ – we must.

Governments and industries are mainly to blame, although there is room for us as individuals to also do our bit. Travel by road and air are responsible for 90 percent of the climate change impact, caused by transportation.

The travel industries need to take environmental responsibility and stop initiating and encouraging us to travel for profit. The airplane ranks as number one polluter.

It’s something we all need to think about. For example, taking 5 holidays abroad a year isn’t necessary for any of us, but if you lived 5 hours away from your parents and you wanted to visit them that’s expected and is okay.

We must think about how and when we travel and whether our travel is really necessary. We have one chance here to backtrack, change ourselves, change our world, and change our future, so we have one.
