  1. Yes, I have met many people who acted like they knew everything, but in reality they didn’t know anything at all.

I also grew up having to pretend like I was confident, but inside I stayed that scared little kid who was afraid of his own shadow. It’s no wonder I had so many issues which I tried to pretend that I didn’t have and so many others paid the price for my ignorance. My daughter was one who paid a high price when her life could have been so different if I had only been brave enough to do the right thing.

I have always done what was best for everyone else, but now I’m trying to do what’s best for me, even if it means not allowing my own daughter to treat me badly now. She doesn’t know who I really am, I’m only now just figuring that out for myself.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, I have been where you have been. Although both of our experiences have been slightly different, we have had similar lives.

It comes from being too pleasing as children. And whilst it worked to a certain degree, for those who are aware, it becomes apparent, those they are trying to please, will continue to please themselves.

Yes, being cocky comes from confidence. We can be cocky because we know, or we can be cocky, think we know and not really know. It’s others having a conversation with us, who will come to know we don’t really know. It’s usually how that works.

Doing what’s right for you Randy is the right thing to do. Where mistakes have been made, and we’re human and will make mistakes, moving forward we can try to do better.

You own your mistakes Randy. Your daughter knows that and should be okay with what you’re trying to change.

  2. I agree having a ‘cocky’ attitude is usually a sign of over confidence or ignorance, but in my view, confidence in itself is not always a sign of ignorance.

Sometimes a degree of confidence is helpful in certain situations.

    1. Thanks. Yes, I agree with you, but I also think how we present is important if other’s are to take the right opinion of us away with them.

Being cocky can hide a multitude of ‘sins.’ What matters is what comes from the soul. Outward appearances are not the same.
