An Orson Card quote

Something inspirational:

“The wise are not wise because they make no mistakes. They are wise because they correct their mistakes as soon as they recognize them.”

  1. Absolutely right. Everyone makes mistakes. That’s not all that important, what is, is the ability to recognise and learn from them.

One of my late father-in-laws infamous saying was, “we all make mistakes but only an idiot makes the same mistake twice.” Not that subtle, but pretty true nonetheless.

    1. Thanks, yes without mistakes we don’t learn and with mistakes we learn if we look for the lessons.

There is a famous saying that when we make a mistake twice, it’s not a mistake, it’s a choice and I agree with that.

  2. As a child, I used to look into my father’s eyes and see wisdom disguised as scars. I wonder how many mistakes he’d made, but wisdom nevertheless.

    1. As children we tend to see things through rose coloured spectacles. Yes our parents’ wisdom seems to be off the scale!

Of course it’s only when we’re grown that we see exactly how things really were… through our own wisdom.
