A quote by Anais Nin

Something inspirational:

“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another, unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”

  1. We do grow in so many ways. I think first we grow chronologically, then we grow mentally and all the other ways.

    1. Thanks Lisa. You’re right I also believe we grow chronologically.

In terms of learning, we also grow as we age, but emotionally in my own experience that doesn’t always happen. I agree with certain aspects of Anais Nin’s quote.

  2. Yes, I understood that very well, considering when I was a child I was having to make a lot of adult decisions!

It makes it very hard to live a ‘normal’ life when you don’t really know what you’re doing as an adult.

I’m just now really trying to grow up to be an adult so that I can finally be comfortable in my own skin!

    1. Thanks Randy. I certainly know how you feel Randy.

The order of how we grow changes when we don’t have the opportunities to experiences things at the right time. I hope you can continue to change things now.

    1. I am sure as sure as I can be that others will also have grown this way. This quotes definitely resonates with me too.

  3. We are different in different dimensions. Awesome statement!

This gives me hope that the child in me will live as long as I do.

    1. Thanks Tim. I believe the child in us is always there!

It comes out every now and again in times of stress when all we want to do is revert back to the times when we were carefree; where we had no stress and times were easier.
