Ready for change

Something inspirational:

“When people are ready to, they change. They never do it before then, and sometimes they die before they get around to it. You can’t make them change if they don’t want to, just like when they do want to, you can’t stop them.”

  1. I agree with this. I’ve seen a lot of people that need to change something about themselves, mainly dealing with health like smoking.

People need to quit but they aren’t going to until they are ready mentally and unfortunately it’s too late health wise, when they do decide to quit. People’s attitude about certain things needs to change but again they won’t until THEY are ready to change.

    1. Thanks Lisa. I was told many years ago when talking with a relative who happened to be a doctor that even at 60 the lungs will renew themselves and that all is not lost. I agree with you that people will change when THEY decide they want to change and with something like smoking sooner than later would be better.

No amount of nagging on our part will change that. We have to want to change our perceptions on how we deal with our lives. A lot of people find that difficult.

  2. Sometimes change happens due to circumstance, but yes I agree people don’t change until they are ready most times.

Change can be a good thing; a way of a person moving forward. It is scary sometimes, but once you get over any fear you have, most times it can be good. A necessary part of life.

  3. Change takes place naturally, it’s evolution. While the earth is rotating on it’s axis, change is inevitable.

People’s personal habits, behaviors and thought will change with this process or they get left behind in a primitive way. The author is right, some people die before they get around to making changes.

I have made changes in my life and will continue to do so. I agree with Randy, change is scary sometimes. It’s a necessary part of life.

    1. Thanks Tim. I absolutely agree with this quote too! There are those who change, those who talk about change and those who never change.

I have seen close ones to me who never change and that can be frustrating, particularly if we change and they don’t. It’s so much easier to get on with like minded people who adapt and are willing to change than with those people who choose not to.

It doesn’t make for good relationships or won’t help us communicate any better.

  4. I agree with this quote and with most of the above comments.

I think the quote is also saying that people won’t change until they are ready to, so in a way it also says a lot about us and the effectiveness of external influences on our mind set.

    1. I agree. There will always be external influences on the way we think and in the way we present ourselves and that is one of the biggest reasons why we fail to change even when we know we should.

It’s never done on a conscious level but it does stop us from changing and in some cases, moving on.
