Spilt milk

Something inspirational:

“Let us cry for the spilt milk, by all means, if by doing so we learn how to avoid spilling any more. Let us cry for the spilt milk, and remember how, and where, and why, we spilt it. Much wisdom is learnt through tears, but none by forgetting our lessons.”

    1. Thanks Lisa. I believe we do too. We learn more through our failings than we do our successes because we tend to look for the lessons, so we can learn.

When we’re successful we just accept that is what we are.

  1. I agree. There is an old saying that there is no use in crying over spilt milk and it is very true. What is done is done, we should try and learn from it so it has had worth.

    1. I agree with you. It is important we learn from our mistakes, what’s gone has gone, but if we can learn from what’s gone that will always help.

  2. I’ve spilt plenty of milk in my life and spent far too much time crying over it!

A person could spend their whole life doing this and I’ve seen far too many in nursing homes who have done just that. I’m hoping I have a long time before I end up there so I need to make the best of the time I have left!

    1. Thanks Randy. I think you’re right. I am sure there will be many of us crying over spilt milk, over things we’ve done that we shouldn’t or things we haven’t done that perhaps we should have when we look back.

I personally believe we can all learn a lot from ‘spilt milk’ but we have to be prepared to change things. Unfortunately we tend to waste far too much time doing nothing about our lives, then looking back when time has passed, wishing we had.

  3. Randy’s opinion is profound, her nursing home analogy gives us a glimpse of the future if we forget our lessons.

At my age, I continue to spill milk; I just wonder when I’ll begin to walk with a steady hand and not spill a drop.

    1. Thanks Tim. I believe through the passage of time, life’s experiences and a better of understanding of our lives and how we can do things so much better, we will at least find more peace, even if we spill the odd drop of milk.

We will go through so many phases in our lifetime, but in doing so how many of us will really understand life in its true form, what we need to do and how we need to be? We never take the time to really understand what we need to understand about our lives and it is that lack of understanding that brings about uncertainty and stress.

We need to dig deep inside of us and work from inside out, so that we have more opportunity of learning about ourselves, what makes us who we are and that’s something that needs to be practiced daily.

  4. I wish we could learn by doing good things as opposed to learning things the hard way, like we do.

I guess we should be happy to learn something at all, some people make the same mistake over and over and still don’t get it. Clueless…

    1. Thanks Maria. I couldn’t agree with you more. I believe we will learn more of our lessons through the hard way, but we still learn some of our lessons when we do things right, particularly how to behave and do good things.

I agree with your last paragraph Maria. Some of us will spend years making the same mistakes and just won’t get it.
