The art of acceptance

Something inspirational:

“Start accepting things when they are less than perfect. I believe that one of the biggest challenges for people, including myself, who want to improve themselves and improve the world is… learning to accept things as they are. Sometimes it’s better to accept and appreciate everything as it is, and people as they are, rather than needing everything and everyone to be the impossible. I don’t believe in accepting a life of mediocrity, but sometimes we need to learn to love and value things when they are less than perfect. “

  1. Acceptance can be a very hard thing to learn, as I know I’ve had so many problems with it in my life.

I had one of those life lessons when I ended up in the hospital a couple of days ago,and had to accept that they needed to remove my gall bladder. It was just one of those things I had put off for a long time, since I would rather have had it be just an upset stomach.

One of the things I’ve heard about acceptance is that I may have to accept certain things for being the way that they are, but that doesn’t mean I always have to like it!

    1. Acceptance can be hard to learn of course, but it helps if we can. In the longer term it helps us adapt better into our lives if we can.

Of course no one has to like it, but it helps if we can!

  2. I agree with this. If I didn’t accept things or people as they are what kind of nurse would I be?

    1. As in life and our jobs there should always be a form of acceptance of what others deal with. As a nurse it has to be a priority with a little bit of compassion thrown in for good measure!

  3. I wholeheartedly agree with this quote.

It’s a shame people find it hard to accept that there is no such thing as perfection and learn just to accept.

    1. It’s a human failing at best!

I personally don’t believe in perfection. It’s too hard to live up to something that is and always has to be one hundred percent perfect.

No one’s life is like that and can be like that all of the time.
