The simple days

Something inspirational:

“Where’d the days go, when all we did was play? And the stress that we were under wasn’t stress at all just a run and a jump into a harmless fall.”

  1. I often think of the days past when things were simpler. When kids would go outside and play without concern of crime. People didn’t kill kids and you could leave your door unlocked day and night without the worry of someone breaking in.

We didn’t have electronic games, we had dolls and toys that we used imaginative play with. Our parents worked but they always were home with us to teach us things and play with us.

We would get together every weekend with friends and neighbors to cook out and socialize with. We went on family vacations and the years crept by.

It’s the good old days that are lost and our children are the ones that are paying for it cause they can’t experience them.

    1. Your life sounded privileged Lisa. I didn’t have any of that, but when my children were small they spent time with friends, after school and in the school holidays. We all spent weekends as a family in and out of friend’s houses or they would come to us; or we’d go out for meals on a Saturday evening.

I do agree our lives have had to change. There is an element of us having to hold back on our children playing out because of crime and parents concern of crime.

Even if we couldn’t do all of these things as a child, I do agree life seemed simpler back then. It was of course, but We didn’t look to complicate things. Children have way too much now and that complicates their lives even further and has introduced more stress into the process.

They’re not as happy as we were all those years ago. That much I believe is true.
