Because we’re all a product of our own individual experiences and upbringing, it is only natural that our opinions will differ on a whole range of topics. The more our opinions differ, the less accepting we will be on other people’s opinions.
There is a train of thought that the world would be a dull place if we were all the same, but it’s the incredible diversity that makes our world such a fascinating place. It’s up to each of us to buy into that diversity and learn to appreciate each other’s opinions through our different cultures.
We’ve become less tolerant of those who hold different opinions. Some of us feel inferior that our opinions seem worthless on the back of other people’s opinions. We’re all entitled to our opinions, even though we may not always agree.
We can still have valid views and be tolerant of what each of us has to say. We don’t have to convince the other person of our opinions, in the same way they don’t have to convince us of theirs, but it’s important we embrace each other’s differences and other people’s views and opinions. That’s how we relate to and understand each other better.
We must also make sure we treat others with the same degree of respect, as we would want ourselves. Listening to and hearing other people’s opinions will help us learn more about the world and how other people’s worlds. What we’re told can make us better people.
We’re too quick to judge, instead of understanding people. Taking our time to get to know someone, is far better than prejudging them.
