Trauma – asking for help

It may be that we have experienced trauma, but weren’t sure it was trauma at that time. We just know we’re not happy.

How many of us will come away from our childhood with our thoughts totally in tact. In my early 30’s when I stopped to think about how I really felt about things, I put myself through therapy.

If months have gone by and you’re still not feeling happy, it’s probably time to think about asking for help. If you’re having difficulties concentrating, you’re suffering from anxiety, you’re having nightmares, flashbacks or memories that seem terrifying, you’re dealing with trauma.

Asking for help is the first step to dealing with and coming through trauma. It’s the first step to acknowledging that you are dealing with trauma.

  1. I think some people think their problem isn’t that important enough to ask for help, or they don’t want to bother someone with something they think would be silly. Great suggestions Ilana.
