Wellness & illness

It doesn’t matter how careful I am, being a premature second twin and having Cerebral Palsy would always mean problems with Reflux and digestion. They’re never far away. Even though I am careful with my lifestyle, it’s still easy for me to get caught out. That’s par for the course.

At least I’m not as ill as I used to be, so it’s not all bad, but it still makes living a normal life difficult. I still find it difficult to plan ahead, plan meals that work for me and make sure I have little stress through the day, because stress can turn a relatively good day into an ill day.

I tend to go through phases, where I am well for a while with the help of supplements and a holistic approach, with little to no problems at all… then something happens; I get ill again and it then takes me weeks to recover.

Going through the process has become extremely tiring.

  1. Dealing with CP is overwhelming enough without adding the issues that come with it. Fortunately, even though I have digestive issues, I feel they’re not that bad. They don’t interrupt my life that much.

Stress can not only aggravate digestive issues, but it can make CP feel worse, but sometimes it can be difficult to avoid stress.

    1. Thanks Maria. You’re absolutely right. I feel the same way. I have been having problems with my digestion as far back as 28 years of age.

I’m pleased your digestive issues don’t interrupt your life too much. I agree with you that stress plays its part in digestive issues. That part is hard.

  2. It must be very hard not knowing whether you are going to be well or not during each day. All you can do is carry on with your holistic approach, whilst trying to avoid known foods that aggregate your digestive problems and minimising stresses.

Unfortunately life can be very stressful at times and it’s difficult to avoid stress altogether, but your positive attitude and knowledge must help somewhat.

I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

    1. Thanks, yes this is the problem I have. It’s the not knowing from one day to another that makes this all worse. I’ll continue to do my best that’s all I can do.

  3. Yes, I imagine it would be very frustrating to have to deal with those issues so often! I know my daughter has her issues with inheriting a very sensitive system which doesn’t react to stress well.

You must have to pay a lot of attention to things like what you eat and when you eat, which could make for a very bland diet. I’m sure it’s one of the many things on the list that other people don’t understand, because they don’t have to deal with those issues.

Hopefully things are going well for you this week so you aren’t suffering.

    1. Thanks Randy, yes you’re absolutely right. I have a very bland diet and when I eat is just as important as what I eat. That in itself isn’t easy.

I feel for your daughter too. Yes unless we walk a mile in another’s shoes, we can’t understand what others go through, but empathy and a listening ear definitely helps!
