Why we remain stuck

There are many reasons why we remain stuck, but until we choose to change, we will always remain stuck. For us to move forward, we must deal with our issues, therefore changing our circumstances.

It’s easier to become unstuck, when it’s someone else holding us back. As long as we’re aware of why, we can work on changing our circumstances. On the other hand, if remaining stuck is down to something you’ve done or said that you haven’t owned up to, then that’s for you to deal with.

It is up to the individual to take responsibility. Emotionally we will always remain stuck when we fail to take responsibility. When we take responsibility we grow, we change and move on. As we continue to hold other people accountable, we can never move on and will always remain stuck.

As much as may know others are to blame, there comes a time when it’s time for us to deal with our issues: it all lies in how we choose to react. Whenever we apportion blame, we remain the victim and will always stay stuck.

  1. As long as we continue blaming others for ALL of our problems, we continue being stuck in a rut.

My friend actually said that we’re the only type of people who would actually move right into a rut and live there for a very long time! We had similar parents so we grew up with a lot of the same dynamics. I’ve spent the majority of my life doing just this, when in reality it was my own doubts, fears and insecurities that kept me from doing things that I wanted to do.

I compare it to the caged animal who sees that the cage door has been left open but they still refuse to leave. I’m just now realizing there are still things I would like to do, but I will have to make adjustments to be able to do them.

People seem to think it’s just so easy to ‘get over’ things in our lives, but it’s not always the case. It’s kind of hard when you were brainwashed into thinking and behaving in certain ways for most of your childhood. There again, people hear this as just another excuse not to do things, but those are the ones who haven’t been through it.

Believe me, if it was actually that easy, I’m sure I would have done it a very long time ago!

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes finding a way through isn’t always easy of course, but believing ourselves and understanding our lives is a great help in the process of helping us get unstuck.

I myself didn’t have the tools as a child to deal with anything that happen in my life, but through a greater understanding I have finally managed to move mountains to turn my life around in that respect.

It’s a work in progress and that’s not easy for any of us.

  2. We will aways remain stuck until we accept responsibility for ourselves then realise that we can change.

It’s not easy, but when the penny drops it is quite enlightening and is the first step to moving on and growing.

    1. Thanks, yes I agree. We must first accept responsibility for ourselves so that we can see we need to change. Without seeing the need for change we’ll never change and will always remain stuck.
