There are many great ways to optimise a healthy lifestyle. You can always combine your gym workout and take time to consider other activities that make you feel great.

Set realistic goals

Whether it’s to start a new fitness plan, get back on track with your weight loss journey, or simply eating more healthily, the key is to set goals that are realistic and attainable.

Look at your nutrition

Healthy eating shouldn’t be complicated, just remember the basics - protein with every meal and snack, carbohydrates for energy, good fats for health, and fibre from wholegrains, fruit, and vegetables.

Work with a Personal Trainer

Working with a personal trainer can be a great way to work towards a specific goal, or learn how to train properly.

Get a fitness buddy

Working out with a friend is likely to keep you motivated, particularly if you don't find motivating yourself easy. So why not keep fit with someone who enjoys the same type of workouts. arrange to meet up to keep fit, or sign up for the same classes, or meet at the gym at the same time.

Invest in a fitness tracker

There are many trackers on the market these days, from simple step and activity trackers to those that monitor your sleep, and those which hook up with apps for all your outdoor activities and sports. Monitoring your fitness can be a great way to help keep motivated.

Add swimming to your routine

Swimming is an excellent way to work on basic fitness, build muscle and get a great cardio workout with no impact on our joints.

Start strength training

Adding strength training to your fitness routine will improve your physique and help look after your bones, metabolism, and posture.

Workout in nature

Working out outdoors has proven benefits for your mental health and wellbeing. Try walking, hiking, running and cycling. These are all great activities which are free.

Try home workouts

Online workouts are really convenient. There is no need to go to the gym. It's particularly good for those who hate the gym. Log on line to get started, and let the instructor guide you through.

As with all fitness routines and tips, it is important to keep fit in moderation. (Source: husslecom)

  1. These are all really good ideas. I sometimes use a tracker to monitor my walks, and it's really encouraging to see how far you've walked and how many steps you've taken.

    It's quite addictive!

    1. Thanks. I'm glad you thought my tips helpful. If you're not into walks or even if you are, a tracker as you say, is a good way to monitor your steps and get into exercise. I would like to get back to exercise, once I'm better.

For those who don't know how a tracker works, it senses the movements of your body. When you come to access the software associated with the tracker, the data is accurately worked out through a personalised algorithm.
