Feeling impatient is an automatic emotional response to situations beyond our control that involves our conscious thoughts and beliefs. It is important to find ways to cultivate patience so that you become less irked by people and things. It is particularly important around world change.

Being impatient

To stop being impatient, it is important to stand back, take a look at your circumstances and begin to perceive your thoughts differently, so that you become less impatient or irritated. Cultivating and having patience is linked to good health.

A 2007 Study

In a 2007 study, Schnitker and Emmons found that people who were patient were less likely to struggle with health problems like ulcers, diarrhoea, headaches and colds. There are ways for us to build and cultivate patience.

Practicing the art of being 'mindful'

Practicing and mastering the art of being mindful is important. Take a deep breath and notice your feelings, stand back on your circumstances, so that you’re looking at your issue from the outside in, so you’re not continually being caught up in the moment.

Gratitude

Practice gratitude. Having and being grateful for what and who we have in our lives goes a long way to cultivating patience. Families must all work together. Governments, society and communities must also work together.

Patience is a virtue

Patience is a virtue which once we have mastered will change our lives indefinitely. We're living through a pandemic, patience has become even more important. (Source: greatergood.berkeley.edu)

    1. I appreciate the sentiment, thank you. Yes, as you say, patience is a virtue. Patience is something more of us must hone in on.

Being patient and being there for others is important. We must all do more to be patient with each other, particularly at this time given the pandemic.

Added to that I also think it is important we talk about things.
