It’s already been 3 weeks and what started as a sore throat and cough is still a sore throat and a cough, struggling to get physically better. Having Covid in December has added to my complications of recovery and is the reason I am still struggling to function normally.
Apart from going out to feed the birds, which I love to do because it means they survive for another day; I haven’t been out of the house. I'm not back in my life. Where before the pandemic I could rely on my immunity, in the pandemic my immunity has taken a beating.
All I can do is throw supplements at it, in the hope that what I am doing helps me to sustain wellness. Where masks aren't being worn, for people like me who are high risk, it's become an impossible task. With cerebral palsy, being a second born twin and also being premature, my immunity is slow and sluggish, and it's taking me longer to recover.
No one can guarantee anything in life, but ignoring the fact we're in pandemic is keeping us informed, it's foolhardy. We know there is a virus out there and yet we’re not taking the precautionary measures that can keep us safe. On my first outing without a mask, I didn’t know whether any of the four people in the shop, who were coughing had a cold, had flu, had Covid or a sore throat, but a week later I was struggling to stay well.
Had I have known about the cough and flu virus before I headed out into town I would have masked up. It was an honest mistake. We should be mindful, if not for ourselves, then for the most vulnerable of society and because it's a kind thing to do.
I sympathise. I was recovering from Covid and caught flu too, which has wiped me out. Thankfully I am on the mend, but feel washed out most days.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Thanks. Yes, two illnesses in two months, not a great start to the year. Like you I am on the mend, but it's taking time and I still have a way to go.
Having caught Covid in December, it wasn't the best time to then catch flu.
With Covid or the Flu you cannot duck and run, the only thing you can do is move through life wisely. Of course, Covid had a plan in motion to get us anyway.
It's a shame what we have devolved into, running from something we can't see.
Thanks Tim. Having had to deal with both viruses back to back, I see Covid and flu differently. I agree with you, we cannot duck and run, and need to see it through, but the issue is attitude. We think we're invincible that we can beat Covid and flu, (I also think this strain of flu is different to your average flu).
I also think it's part of the reason why the world is switched off. There are a select few of us (and I include myself here) who understands enough to know we can't beat this and have adapted our lives accordingly.
But even if Covid turns into an endemic, there are more pandemics on their way. Are we hearing something different or is this a denial issue? I think it's denial. The independents couldn't be clearer.
If we ignore it the pandemic goes away, right? Wrong...
