Talking about mental health still makes people uncomfortable. I’ve seen it – the sideways glances, the quiet pauses in conversations, followed by quick subject changes.
And to be honest, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable too.
I still talk about it, because I’ve lived through decades when I didn’t understand my own brain. When I thought I was the only one who felt overwhelmed, numb, this not okay. And the silence around mental health struggles growing up, only made it worse.
With work on myself, I realise that talking about mental health doesn’t make you weak – it makes you honest, open and transparent. And sometimes, that honesty is exactly what someone else needs to hear, so they too can start their mental health journey.
It is why I continue to write about mental health – in all its forms, and with all its challenges. I stand tall. Whether it’s sharing a personal reflection, asking difficult questions, or simply opening up space for thought, I write because these conversations matter. They matter to me, and maybe – just maybe – they matter to you too. The stigma with mental health needs to end.
It's why I’ll never stop talking about mental health, exploring what it means, and writing about the things that are important here on The CP Diary. Because mental health awareness starts understanding and with honesty.
And sometimes, one honest voice can start to make a difference.
