Politics never stops meeting its own headlines. A new leader arrives. A new government begins. A new set of ideas is introduced. And with that comes something very human: hope.
We want to believe that things can improve. We want to believe the people who lead us can make progress on the issues that matter most.
That's not unreasonable.
Politics should be about making things better.
But perhaps the challenge is understanding what change really looks like.
It is easy to say what needs to improve. It is much harder to decide what comes first, what can realistically be achieved, and what choices have to be made.
Those are the questions every leader eventually faces.
And that’s when expectations can change quickly. The excitement of a new beginning meets the reality of making things happen.
But meaningful change is rarely found in one big announcement or one defining moment.
These questions are important.
Politics will always bring new faces, new ideas and new promises. The difficult bit comes after the promises.
Because in the end, there is only one question that matters:
Did it work? That is what politics is really about.
