Something inspirational:

“Total self-confidence is built through positive expectations. You can build positive expectations by knowing that you have the power within to overcome any obstacle that lies ahead. So many people have a magnetic attraction to the past. They save momentos, clippings, old letters, and trivia. There is nothing wrong with this, but if you want to succeed, your mind must focus on where you are going, not on where you have been. Instead of saving momentos, clippings, old letters, and trivia from the past, it would be more productive to make a scrapbook with pictures of where you want to go and what you want to be in the future.”

  1. I agree totally. focusing on the past just leaves us with the past. When we focus on the future and really give it thought we can make positive things happen.

  2. I agree with Lisa on this one. I live too much in the past sometimes it does me no good to do that.

I like many others have no idea what my future holds. I tend not to get my hopes up because if I do they come crashing down on me.

Nothing ever turns out like I imagine it would.

    1. This is the negative speak Randy.

Just because we get our hopes up doesn't always mean things will come crashing down on us. If things are meant to happen, they will happen regardless of whether we build ourselves up or not.

Not everything will come crashing down.

  3. I've spent the majority of my life stuck in the past, but I'm trying to learn how to stay focused on the present.

I have come to think of it like driving a car: pretty dangerous if you're not focusing on the road ahead, but always looking in the rear view mirror!

    1. I'm not sure on your analogy Randy! Wouldn't you always focus on what's going on in front of you without looking back all the time?

I understand our need to look back sometimes but that doesn't help. I tend to use the past as a tool to change things, so that I feel better about my future.
