There is no doubt that 2020 was a difficult year, because the world had the pandemic and the UK had Brexit. In 2021, we still have the pandemic to deal with and our thinking and reactions must change.

The pandemic is what you see in sci-fi films

I liken the pandemic to a horror sci-fi movie where you know it's out there, you can't see it, you have no idea how it really works but it keeps changing, now on strain 3, as it continues to claim casualties, as scientists continue to fail to understand how the virus really works, with many ignoring the fact that it's out there.

The virus isn't a hoax

But where sci-fi is just sci-fi, it's not always real life, this is real life. The virus isn't a hoax. We need to follow the guidelines for us to help dissipate the virus. By working on self-care, we can bring some order into our lives and reduce the virus.

In contrast, a stark warning: People who do not follow social distancing rules or wear masks "have blood on their hands", an intensive care doctor has warned. Prof Hugh Montgomery who works in intensive care at London's Whittington Hospital, and leads a research group at UCL.

The blame is on 'us'

“People are laying the blame on the virus, and it is not the virus, it is people, people are not washing their hands, touching their faces, they are not wearing their masks.”And he warned anyone not social distancing or following the rules that;

"They are spreading this virus. Other people will spread it and people will die. They won't know they have killed people, but they have. (Source: https://wwwbbccouk/news)

Conclusion

The pandemic is showing us we should work together to reduce its effects. I am cautious because I am high risk, but more of us need to live our lives according to what we know, we should follow the rules, mask up, wash our hands and put space between us.

A New Year for me also means I need to try to concentrate less on the fact that we're living through the pandemic, and try to curtail my anxiety more. But where years of trauma, anxiety and stress have brought me to a more positive place through my writing, my what will be a published second book in the summer, isn’t just for me; but it's for the world too.

As my writing continues to change my life positively, it can change your lives too.

  1. People aren't taking this virus very seriously, which is always the start of one of those cheesy horror/sci-fi movies.

They obviously haven't ever been deathly ill like I have, so they truly don't have a clue as to how horrible it can get. They are also refusing to do the right thing when it would save their own lives and everyone else's.

They definitely can't blame things on the virus anymore, since they are the ones who are dooming us all and they don't seem to care.

I am hoping and praying that things will change and get better before it's too late.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, I also think you're right, the virus can't be blamed for how things are working out, as people are still choosing to ignore government rules.

That said, it is important we pull back so we are in control of the virus and so we can get a hold on it. Not too means more people will die. The virus doesn't care whose lives it touches.

The death toll is already too high. I hope that into a New Year there will be a new thinking and we can all work together to help reduce the virus.

  2. From the very beginning of this pandemic, our leadership denied the seriousness of the virus, dismissing it as media hype and/or embracing ridiculous conspiracy theories.

This irresponsible governing is the very reason why a significant part of the population are going maskless to this very day. It's purely political and very deadly.

Like Randy, I hope our behavior changes as we move forward in 2021. Our most difficult challenges are unfortunately ahead.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, of course and I hate to say it and agree the Governments' decisions are purely political and very deadly.

I'm not sure either the UK or American governments will accept your theory, they're only answerable to themselves, but that doesn't matter, we don't have to convince them what we know to be true.

Instead, the universe is listening and watching. What I know is that each of our behaviour must change if we are to have a chance of reducing the virus and get our lives back on track.
