"Mental health is the umbrella term used to describe “a state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life.” – Google.

When we’re small we’re exposed to different elements and those elements may become a problem around our mental health. Being exposed to the different elements, start when you’re undervalued, under loved and under cared for.

Struggling with Mental Health

When you're continually consciously tuned in, it may become obvious that you're struggling with your emotions, and as a result will know about mental health. When it comes to a disability, it is others who may struggle to function with us and as a result we can struggle to function in what is our own normal.

Mental Health issues

Unless you’re born into a family where you are emotionally and mentally supported, there may always be mental health issues. But not everyone understands their behaviour equates to mental health issues and not all mental illness is obvious.

  1. I suspect there aren't many of us who can honestly say we were emotionally supported as a child. Looking back I can say I didn't get any support, although in my case this was preferable to the 'support' my siblings got.

We all carry our childhood experiences with us into adulthood, so as parents we have a huge responsibility to do the best we can for our children.

I got a valuable lesson in how not to do that.

    1. Thanks. Yes, no matter what elements we are exposed to as children (and there will be some), there are certain elements that are just not acceptable.

It is important that as parents, no matter what we had to deal with, we put it right for our children.
