The pandemic hasn’t and isn’t easy for anyone, least of all for those who are high risk and/or who deal with a mental illness, of which I deal with both.

My mental struggles

I have and continue to struggle around the decisions that have been made, decisions that have and continue to leave me in a worse mental space. Although it will have been difficult for any government, wanting to put others first, is a good first step.

The virus isn't finished

The UK is accepting the pandemic is finished, because it’s something they’re desperate to see happen. I have heard it said so many times the pandemic is finished, and yet the scientists have told us the pandemic is here to stay. On each of our parts, we should begin to think differently.

I am high risk, and like thousands of others who are also high risk, I am being told that my life 'doesn’t matter.'

The pandemic is 'alive'

The pandemic hasn’t gone and yet, with all precautionary measures now lifted in the UK, it seems for many it has gone. In practice, the virus is very much alive and kicking.

We can change how we individually go about our lives in the pandemic, not only to support our loved ones, but to realise, there are others that need our support.

Face, Space, Hands

So, let's face hands space. The slogan the UK government came up with initially, to help send the pandemic on its way. Without continuing to face, hands space, as we’re seeing cases are continuing to rise, the virus can continue to mutate and those high risk, like me, shall continue to be locked in our homes.

  1. Once again, governments are pandering to the majority and trying to pretend like the virus doesn't exist, just because we can't see it.

How many movies have they made where they should have gotten rid of the sick guy and it ends very badly? It's ridiculous because there are a lot of people who are immunocompromised, on top of having mental health issues who are pretty much being ignored and left to suffer.

Hard to imagine that people are choosing to be so oblivious about the reality of the situation, but not surprising, and we can only hope and pray once more, that people will finally choose to do the right thing and mask up, so that others may stay safe.

    1. Thanks Randy. Your response makes me feel much better and I agree.

I also hope that people will choose to do the right thing. Governments pandering to the majority will only end in tears.

I shall continue to take all necessary precautionary measures for myself, so that I can remain safe.

  2. I went to the post office today to send a parcel, buy fuel and also went to the shops. On each occasion there was only one other person in each store wearing a mask as well as me.

I hear from people daily that 'the pandemic is finished now.' The public cannot be trusted with their own safety and until governments make certain measures mandatory again, the infection rates will continue to spiral and those at high risk such as yourself will have to say at home to keep safe.

When Randy says "it's ridiculous" he is spot on.

    1. We're seeing exactly what happens when people run riot, because they're not being directed; in a pandemic it's the worst.

And whilst they can't be blamed because the UK government 'are finished with the pandemic' Randy, is absolutely 'spot on'.

I have struggled and continued to struggle with autism, with mental health in the pandemic. I hope common sense will eventually prevail.

It has to, for all our sakes. Those who are 'into their lives' are still not safe. With or without taking the vaccine, you can still catch and spread the virus.

This is EXACTLY why precautionary measures need to continue.
