Alternative facts (lies) has always been with us. Its purpose is to cover up the truth, to paint history in the most slanterous ways, to deceive.
Politicians are masterful at this. They know that lies told to anyone's brain long enough will register. They also know that people are anxious to being lied to.
Ilana, this site and your books have taken center stage to bring us back to truth. Please keep writing!
Tim, I am so pleased you've picked up on this point; it's what is going on in the world right now. What is happening in governments is seeping into every day life.
When you and I were little, there was morality in politics, with the odd rogue politician. But now politics has changed completely and the world is also changed. There is no easy way to talk about this. It's not what people want to hear, but it has become necessary. Without morality, we are assigning ourselves to continued failings and struggles.
Through these political decisions, the universe is helpless to act. The universal codes are continually being ignored, and are replaced with ego and narcissism.
Truthfully, I don't how much of an impact my writing is having. In the 12 years I have been writing, now with mental health at its lowest, I have seen a large decline on readers. That said, I still believe people are innately good and that we can pull back.
I hope others like you have, will buy my books. In these times, my books should be rolling off the shelves. Seriously, they can help a lot of people.
People need to care about truth, themselves and their mental health. In my books I speak the truth, universal truth, and also tackle mental health.
My books are a source of help, guidance and inspiration for those seeking out truth. I hope with your articulate words, they act as a filter and become a force for good.
It's over 70 years since Orwell wrote those words and yet it is sad to say those words are more relevant now than ever.
We live in dark times when the truth is buried so deep we are surrounded by lies.
Thanks. Where you say, 'we live in dark times when the truth is buried so deep we are surrounded by lies' - absolutely agree, yes.
It is hard to comprehend in 2022 this is what we have. Emotional and spiritual growth is lacking, but I still believe we can pull back.
Whilst we have breath in us, we can choose to be better, we can choose to be a support to others, living better lives.
