  1. I remember my daughter's thesis in psychology, which was about proving that human beings are extremely prone to say or do as others, even when they do not believe what they're saying to be true.

We are very much programmed to follow the crowd and this unconsciousness is looked upon being a positive value.

It's easy to be one of the crowd, to join in, just because everyone else is doing it, but as the saying goes, 'if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.' How many times has history taught us this and yet we witness this every day?

    1. Thanks. Yes, I suppose I'm quite lucky, not being popular as a child in school, I never followed the crowd, because I wasn't in a crowd, or clique.

I spent a lot of my time in my own head, equating and trying to work my life out. It's what saved me for sure.

But yes, you're right. History continues to teach us not to follow the crowd, but we're not listening. Yes, you can see it playing out in politics and in the world.

  2. I noticed as a young kid that people created unnecessary problems for themselves. So I stood alone curious and watched the havoc that ensued.

It was the rational, conscious part of my personality that allowed me to do that. It's amazing how smart we were as children and didn't know it.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, you're absolutely right. In the eyes of the world, children are just children. Grown ups need to think differently about children. Children are very smart.

Grown ups think we don't understand or we don't have the knowledge, but children absolutely do and they're smart. As you rightly say, the rational conscious part of our personality continues to work our lives and the world out.

Although as children, we're not in a position to quantify or change anything, through our experiences, we are continually aware. As the adult we get to change our thinking. Through my blog I make us aware.

Thanks for reaffirming what we both know to be true. I love that.
