I have felt captive for most of my life because as a kid I couldn't do anything to change my circumstances. I couldn't quite believe how liberating it was last year, when I finally decided that I had had enough and fought to escape the situation that I was in.
I have probably done more in the past year and a half than I did for most of my previous life, which has been amazing. Believing in myself and trying out different things has been scary but also pretty fantastic, so I'm trying to keep up the momentum.
I need to keep focusing on doing what I need to do to keep things moving forward, then the rest of my life will more than likely be pretty fantastic.
Thanks Randy. Yes, this quote teaches us a lot about our life and our environment. It also shows us we are in control, but we must be aware and understand what that means.
From your words, it sounds as though you have moved on. Just keep doing what you're doing. What matters is you're doing it!

I think there are numerous forms of captivity, most of which are purely psychological and voluntary.
Our lives shouldn't begin and end in the same place.
Thanks Tim. Yes, quite and as 'my story' shows, we don't have to stay victim to our circumstances, we can change certain elements of our life.
I appreciate it is made more difficult by others controlling our lives and it's only usually when our circumstances change that our lives can change.
Where we have control for ourselves, then yes we are in the driving seat.
