Daniel's experiences, of having been assaulted three weeks ago in Dundee, on his way back to St Andrews and coming back from the brink with an almost flawless attitude, leaves me with such admiration for him. He has chosen to dust himself down and get back up again.

As a family, the experience has changed us, but not altogether in a bad way. We see a different side to our lives now and although we have taken different experiences from Daniel's experience, his experience has also made us aware of the world we live in and how vigilant we have to be.

We still have stress and that does manifest itself, but the experience has brought us closer together as a family. We support one another. I feel and have seen us grow closer. Daniel sees that too. The simple pleasures now are what are important to us, as is spending quality time together. We have been shown how to do things better, a whole lot better.

In the meantime, Daniel is doing great. He will of course continue to have his up and down days, as he works through his emotional experiences, but he is truly amazing and I am immensely proud of him.

  1. This terrible episode has changed many things in our lives, but like you I can take much positivity from the situation.

Daniel is a truly remarkable and inspirational young man and I believe that he is destined to make a real difference in people's lives, just like his mum.

    1. Awww thank you. It's not an experience I would want to go through again, but once you come through the other end, you do begin to see life very differently.

I know how I felt, it must have been far more difficult for Daniel. He's come through amazingly well.

  2. I agree completely, Daniel has definitely been pretty amazing throughout this whole experience and whoever he is he sounds really cool!

Thanks mum and dad for being so great through this. I know it's been hard for you both too. Love you both x
