Something inspirational:

"If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much."

  1. If that isn't true, as I'm discovering right now. I'm dealing with someone who has made a lot of plans for me that don't seem to include me much more than just being an open wallet for her, which is very sad.

My fears, doubts and insecurities have kept me paralyzed for so long, but I have the chance to be with someone who knows me better than myself and I can't just let it go.

I made that mistake a long time ago and I have spent a lot of years regretting it, as I allowed someone else's opinion to sway my decision.

It may cost me a lot of material gains to finally have my freedom, but the alternative is too terrible to consider. I just want to be able to live my own life the way I want to live it, for the first time in my life without feeling like a slave.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, I am sure your experiences of this will resonate with others too.

It resonates with me, but from the opposite side of the coin. I had no opportunities to change anything. I wasn't encouraged and not expected to amount to anything.

My life and the way I lived my life in my formative years was because of someone else not choosing for me to have a life.

This quote is true. It's important we take control and plan our life the way we want that to go. As children we rely on our parents.

As the adult we must rely on ourselves. Therefore, it's important we find someone who shares our passions and our ideals of how we see life.

  2. I too can relate to some of Randy's experiences spending to many years doing right by someone else and not being true to myself and my family.

The important thing, Randy is that you recognise the need to change things. My advice to you is you now need to make it happen and only you can do that.

We owe it to ourselves to live our lives not someone else's.

    1. Thanks, yes I think we stand united and I agree. From my own experiences, when anyone lives another person's life, it's usually because they have little choice.

Those relationships are sadly usually centred around abuse. So I can understand Randy and the issues he's had, but as you say, it's important that we recognise the need for change.

It needs to happen. I agree with your last paragraph when you say, 'we owe it to ourselves to live our lives, not someone else's.'

      Absolutely, for Randy too.

  3. It doesn't take long for me to gauge someone's intent, even if it comes with a big sloppy kiss and a friendly smile.

Randy, your experiences resonate with me too.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, it's what lies under the sloppy kiss and the friendly smile that we're not aware of.

In time, things eventually become clear by which time we've been totally sucked in. Yes, I think you, Brad and I all agree and can resonate together with Randy's experiences.

It took me 49 years and someone's passing to break free of my own experiences. I find the whole thing sad beyond belief.
