This is so true! We see others with things that we don't have and automatically we have to have those things, just to get have them and leave them laying around unused.
It's such a waste of money. No wonder people have money problems. How many of us can go through our homes and find things we bought that we don't use? It's like we have something just so we can say we have it or to impress others.
We need to really think about what is important like life and love. Objects don't have life or love.
I've also known people indulge in retail therapy to help them feel better, but in reality they never will. As you say, a lot of what we have in our homes go completely unused.
Happiness always comes from within and that's something we fail to recognise.
Yes, the world seems to be driven by people wanting what they can't have! The reality is that once they have it, they usually don't know what to do with it, so it's a waste of time and effort.
I've found myself wasting most of my life focused on things I couldn't have, which ends up being really sad. It just amazes me when people have everything they could ever need and want but are still not happy.
Life isn't fair at times, which is near impossible to accept, so I'm very conflicted on my feelings about this issue quite often!
Thanks Randy. I think there needs to be a balance and the majority of us don't get that balance right. Society seems to have a must have attitude, whether we can afford to have or not.
I grew up with very little and didn't seem to mind not having. I think you're right the more we do have, the less happy we become. I believe society and the environment has a lot to do with it.
We really think we should go back to basics on our feelings on what we want and what works for us, without feeling the need to follow all the time.

Thanks Lisa. Yes you're absolutely right.

This quote pretty much sums up so much that is bad about western societies.
Unfortunately this is now an endemic part of our culture, especially for teenagers with their must have attitude. It's actually very sad.
Agreed. I have nothing more that I need to add, you've said it all.
