“Interesting read”

A Review by ibjoy1953 (Joy)

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

"I wasn’t sure what to expect from Spirituality, Healing and Me: How Living a Spiritual Life Offers Hope and healing in the Modern World. Turns on I found a lot of profound truth to what Ilana Estelle says. Dealing with a disability, it makes sense that connecting to one’s self is essential in dealing with disabilities.

I will admit that there are some things I’m not so sure about, but then other things are spot on. For 26 years I have been dealing with a different kind of disability than this author, but the facts are still the same. Some things I read, I already do them myself, but it was nice and interesting to read Estelle’s viewpoint.

There are a lot of statements in this book that I highlighted for future reference and I’m glad I had an e-copy of the book so I could do that, and always have it with me on my Kindle app on my phone. One thing that stood out to me is something I already knew, but reading it brings it to light even more for me.

It is, and I’m quoting this from the book, “Being selfless means being focused on the needs of others, rather than our own needs. It is one of the most endearing qualities we can possess.” This is something I am going to write on an index card and keep with me, and I encourage you to do the same with thoughts that have helped you from this book. If you are dealing with a disability, regardless of what it is, I think you can benefit from reading this book.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255."
