Something inspirational:

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”

  1. This quote made me smile. I learned from a young age that rules were meant for others not me, but I've tended to conform to social norms the older I've got, as we tend to do as adults.

This is a reminder for me to break a few rules!

    1. You're lucky. I've been conforming since I was a small child, primarily so that I would be accepted dealing with something I later learned to be a disability.

I do think though it is important to be an independent thinker and if that means not conforming on a particular that should be okay.

I think if institutions were a little more open-minded about things, people would be more open to conforming. We rebel when we're challenged, when what we think doesn't time in what our beliefs are.
