It is important we are open with ourselves about our experiences and vulnerabilities, because when we work on acceptance of ourselves, we avoid being cruel to others.
Being mentally or emotionally hurt
When we feel mentally or emotionally hurt, we may back off and live a life in denial on the facts, which means running away from what is truth. It is only through being open and honest that our own emotional needs can be met and we can heal.
Being in 'denial'
Being in denial means we may fail to cope with others appropriately. Each of our experiences, is etched in our psyche and unconsciously stored as a memory. If our experiences are attached to abuse, rejection or neglect, those experiences, may start to play out in ways, others may regard as being cruel.
We need to aim to understand
On our part, we need to aim to understand a person’s reasoning, and ask ourselves why they would choose to behave in such a way. Once we understand another person’s reasoning and behaviour, we should be able to make more informed choices on how we tackle that person. Regardless of our experiences, there is no excuse for anyone being cruel. (Source: https://wwwtheguardiancom)
Being cruel is running away from the truth, usually when we feel mentally or emotionally hurt.
On the other hand, being kind is an act of love and respect that helps create a better life, full of hope and happiness, which we all deserve but don't always find.
Thanks. When you say, 'being cruel is running away from the truth, usually when we feel mentally or emotionally hurt' - what you describe in your first paragraph is what is out there.
Our past has a lot to do with it and yes it's in the world, in politics and in our personal lives too, but it doesn't have to be like that.
We can all choose to do things differently, and be the support that we all need to be. Covid has sadly unleashed and shown how people really are.
Instead, we must back track and work together for us all to be that support.
