Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' is currently on tour with @ZooloosBT. For anyone interested in buying a copy of either of my books, they are available to buy directly through my website or through the link in the review.
'I was originally drawn to this book by its topic. I must admit I don't know a huge amount about cerebral palsy so was intrigued to learn more about it and how it affects the people who live with it. I have also yet to read a book published by RedDoor Press that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first… Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a foreword, introduction and 6 chapters. The chapters are medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed… OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This biography is very well written and easy to read. As u perviously stated I was attracted by this book because I wanted to learn more about cerebral palsy and how it affects someone with it and this book was an eye opener. I really liked how it was structured with each chapter concentrating on different aspects of Ilana's life. It begins with a foreword from Marty Kinrose who is the former Director of Mentor and Young Programs at UCP Work Inc, explaining how he came to know Ilana.
Then the book moves on to an introduction to Ilana and then moves on to the 6 chapters, which are Understanding Cerebral Palsy, Cerebral Palsy, Socialising and Society, Family life, Physical Health, Mental Health and finally Lifestyle, Beliefs and Spirituality. It is an inspirational read for anyone with or without Cerebral Palsy and I love Ilana's positive outlook on life. It is Ilana's personal journey which showed courage and strength.
I enjoyed the quotes included throughout the chapters, and learning more about Cerebral Palsy the statistics, how it affected Ilana and so much more. There are tips that she gives on how the reader can improve our own mental and physical health. I am looking forward to researching Ilana's blog and increasing my research and knowledge on Cerebral Palsy.
I really enjoyed the fact that Ilana's has written this book in a way that the reader can dip in and out of the book and read in little chunks at a time if that is what they want to do. There is a lot that can be learned from reading Ilana's brave and inspirational memoir and I am glad that I came across it.
Overall, an inspirational and emotional insight into living with cerebral palsy.'
For anyone interested in grabbing copies of either book, you can order paper back or Kindle copies on Amazon, or through the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle
This is such a lovely review, full of well-deserved praise of your inspirational book, which we can all learn so much from.
Through your blog, as you continue to write for yourself, you also continue to selflessly help others.
I hope both of your books do well. Nothing short of deserved.
Thank you and thank you for your words, so kind. I’m not a celebrity, they automatically get a leg-up, just by the nature of being in the public. My books can help a lot of people, it would be nice to be given a chance, fingers crossed!
No one can put a price on emotional or mental health. It is the one thing we gamble with the most.
