Words cannot begin to explain how sad this tragedy is and how it has left many of us feeling.
My thoughts are with all the families too.
There are no words.
Beautiful. This tragedy has left me sort of numb. I cannot imagine killing poor little innocent children.
I saw their faces on the news for the first time this morning and it just broke my heart. It makes me want to hold my own and not let go.

It's a tragedy not only for all of the victims, their families and the community... but for all concerned. It's not something any of us will comprehend and what lead this 20 year old to act the way he did.

Hopefully the families can somehow get through this. With love and support from the many caring people around them they will be able to survive this awful tragedy. Once the pictures of the children were in the papers, it made it all too real.

You’re right. We can usually put thoughts to the back of our minds before any full story emerges.
For me this tragedy seems real too, but in some respects it seems unreal as well. When the outcome is too big for us to comprehend, it makes coming to terms with the event that much more difficult.
It will take a while for this news to sink in. It is such a waste of beautiful life.
There aren't many words to describe how I'm feeling right now! I had tried to write something earlier, but it ended up being really inappropriate, so I decided to wait until later.
It just blows my mind that someone could do that to his own mother and those innocent children, for any reason especially just before Christmas. They deserved so much better and it makes me think it will come down to having armed security guards in all schools,just in case.
I'm just really conflicted on this one, since if even one person had been armed, they could have stopped him. We'll never know!
Thanks Randy. It's never easy. I honestly believe there are no words to describe the events of last Friday.
You're right no one deserves to have this happen and so near to Christmas. We'll probably have to see what unfolds in the next few days with regard to security on the school. Although the situation has calmed down, I'm sure many of the parents will be reluctant to send their children back to the school right now.
None of us will ever understand the reasoning behind why someone does something like this. Mentally this guy was clearly disturbed in some way to carry out this kind of act. It would have been very difficult to have stopped him, given the amount of ammunition he was carrying.
I personally think that to summise what could have been done differently at the time isn't always helpful. I am sure everything that could have been done had been done. There were a lot of heroic teachers in the school on that day who did save a lot of children.
It's happened we cannot change that. It's probably time to look forward now.
