We are all open to catching the Covid-19 virus, it's why I write about, it's worrying and concerning for me particularly because I deal with autism. My understanding of what it all means is difficult, as I fail to grasp the basics, sometimes.
High Risk
For those who are high risk it will have taken us 6 months to leave the house. Shops officially opened on 4th July when the UK government said they could go back to work. For those of us who are high risk, we've had to wait to go back into shops, so it's important none of us flout the wearing a mask rule.
Flouting the Covid-19 Rules
We hear stories of people flouting the mask rules through the media, which is putting pressure on shopkeepers, with little social distancing. Covid-19 is still rising and infection rates are going up.
It could be you, your family, it could a family member, a parent, a brother or sister, a relative, a niece, or nephew, anyone. We should all come together, to limit the risk of catching Covid. Covid doesn't care who it infects, we're all at risk.
It is important to Keep Safe
We put ourselves at risk every time we go out. It is important to keep safe, to follow the rules and apply common sense. To also look after ourselves and watch out for each other, so that we have a chance to reduce the virus and its effects.
We shouldn't be the reason why someone is put at risk, because as we have seen, it's not just those at high risk who fall foul of the virus; we're all at risk. Coming together has never been so important.
Before my eyes completely opened this morning, I learned that the President of the United States and his wife had contracted Covid-19.
This is sobering news for those who believe the Coronavirus is fake news or some kind of conspiracy. How this virus became political is beyond me.
So you're right Ilana, we need to come together with one solid strategy and combat this deadly virus. The human race is not unsinkable. As you say, "coming together has never been so important."
Thank you for this timely blog, Ilana.
Thanks Tim. You're absolutely right. Where you say, 'how this virus became political is beyond me' - everything seems to have become political.
What other people are able to take in their stride I struggle with, because I deal with autism. The pandemic feels like doom and gloom.
Yes, one strategy needs to be in place with all governments working together to that end so as you rightly say, we can finally combat this deadly virus and that needs to happen.
In the meantime, no matter what I write about, I will continue to sow a seed for change, one blog at a time. Glad you liked my blog.
Your blog is spot on. This is a global crisis which is threatening millions of lives. All nations need to come together to provide vital treatment to suppress transmission and save lives and ensure we are prepared for any future crises in an equitable way.
I admit to feeling a little wry smile come over me when I heard that Trump had the virus. I don't wish it on anyone, but I hoped this would bring about a change in attitude.
That hope lasted no more than a split second when I remembered who it was we are dealing with - and much like when Boris Johnson caught the virus too.
We will not defeat this virus unless we come together but when ignorance, greed, stupidity and ego are running the show, I have little hope.
Thanks. Yes, there are no words that would be fit to put on to my blog that describe what many of us really feel.
Our voices are being drowned out by governments who are going against independent scientists and who don't agree with their own government scientists. I believe in karma, I also believe something will change what we have here.
We have a little time, but the damage that has been done can never be reversed. Individually, there are things we can do, we must change our lifestyles to fit in with the natural world.
I think your last paragraph sums up your response, yes, ignorance, greed, stupidity and ego are running the show. I believe good will eventually prevail.
