Over the next few days, I will be writing book blogs to the lead up of my second Book, 'Spirituality, Healing and Me.'
My first Book Cerebral Palsy: A Story ‘Finding the Calm After the Storm is 'my story,' being born with a disability I didn't know I had. Like ‘Spirituality, Healing and Me,’ my second book is also based on universal recollections, around real-life vignettes that relate to us all.
In society today, it is even more important we continue to highlight our concerns, fears and worries.
Be open and honest
Throughout the writing process, I have been open, honest about what I deal with, choosing to engage with you, my readers, so that we may connect, through a common cause of mental health, something that affects each of us. Writing came out of necessity, it was either that or continue to live in the dark.
Be honest with yourself
Fast forward to 2010 and the start of The CP Diary, my blog that would initially change my life moving forward. We all have our own demons, it's about being honest with ourselves. Writing and engaging isn’t easy, but also as the reader it's not always easy to engage in what other people write and relate that back to your own stories. But us just wanting to change is the first step to change.
My book Cerebral Palsy: A Story ‘Finding the Calm After the Storm’ was the first step, to discovering my life in the whole. It was borne out of necessity; a necessity to put a disability together that I didn’t know I had.
Being a 'special needs' child
Imagine growing up as a ‘special needs’ child, not knowing you are special needs, not understanding your struggles, or how your mental and emotional struggles manifest. Imagine also, not knowing why you struggle to play, or learn, or why you struggle to interact with your siblings, and your peers; why you are continually locked away mentally and emotionally and why your struggles continue to be struggles, being cut off from the very world you're supposed to engage in.
As Publishing Day approaches
Now with 6 days to go to the publishing of my second book ‘Spirituality, Healing and Me’ and I couldn’t be more proud. It has taken 58 years. There were times I could feel myself falling.
If you fancy reading either of my books, you can grab paperback and Kindle copies on Amazon, or through the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle
I am excited to be on this countdown journey with you this week and would like all your readers to get behind you and support you by ordering your new book.
You provide all of us your selfless support and this would be our way of showing our appreciation and giving you something back.
Let's see if we can't empty the warehouse that houses your book, Spirituality, Healing and Me...
Thanks. Yes, I am hoping so, thank you. Fingers crossed they do. So, whoever buys a copy of my book will not only be supporting me, but will be supporting themselves.
