Professor Adam Finn from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation was asked if the coronavirus vaccine booster jabs will be needed every year.
The Covid-19 vaccine rollout
The UK has now ordered an extra 114 million doses for potential further booster programmes. Whilst the professor didn’t directly give the wider public the answer, it stands to reason the more the virus escalates the more all Governments will anticipate yearly roll outs expecting the wider population including the most vulnerable to take the vaccine as you would do a yearly flu jab.
The Flu Jab
The difference, between the flu jab vaccine and the Covid-19 vaccine is that if you feel vulnerable and you are more susceptible to flu because you have an underlying condition you can choose to take the flu jab. Only a fraction of people take the flu jab in comparison to what is happening with the Covid-19 jabs.
Also, the flu jab has been around for years. Initially, with the 10-month initial roll out for Covid-19, there isn’t the same confidence to know how we may fare, taking the Covid-19 jab in the longer term. In practice, we have no idea how it's all going to work out.
Moving forward, it looks like scientists are now putting together another vaccine that will target new variants of Covid-19. Although the new vaccine is in its early stages, scientists have yet to talk about the new vaccine in detail and how that may fit into our lives moving forward, along side Covid-19 vaccines already out.
Mistakes along the way
The attitudes and mistakes by the UK government aren’t helping the public secure a confidence vote in the vaccine rollout. The booster programme has taken a knock after a successful campaign for the first and second dose vaccine.
Whether you have had the vaccine or not, the scientists agree it is important to stay safe. They want us to adjust our lives, rather than rush to get back into our lives. For the jab, I think we can take that one size doesn’t fit all.
Whilst writing, please let's continue to take all precautionary measures. Mask up, sanitise your hands and continue with social distancing.

I used to think I was born at the right time. I escaped physical and emotional slavery, the holocaust and a host of major catastrophes. My movement was simply governed by the laws of karma.
But now my dignity is hiding behind a mask because no one is loyal to society because of political reasons. It seems that politics is out weighing our suffering, that's pathetic. We need someone or something to protect us from ourselves, Covid doesn't care what we believe politically.
Voices like the CP Diary brings us together collectively to fight this virus, with the spirit of common sense and facts. Thank you for that, Ilana.
Thanks Tim. I love that you have the wisdom, you care, yes you are irritated, rightly so and like you care, you want others to care.
We all have a sense of spirit, a sense of community, but where the majority are earthly and not spiritual, they have lost sight of duty, they have lost sight of the very things that can save us, and we need to get it back.
Starting my blog, I didn't set out to talk about the bigger issues. Truthfully, I had no idea what I was going to talk about. It was a blog that would turn negative into positive on what we're very dark times for me. The things I talk about, are the very things that continue to worry me and that interferes with my mental health.
There is no doubt that Covid-19 is the catalyst of change for the world. It is the world's biggest lesson. We need to learn. We're at a crossroad, how we deal with things, is how our future lives will shape up. Time is running out.
In the meantime, I shall continue to highlight these issues on my blog. Today's blog entitled 'Improving the World' highlights a fraction of the world's issues. It is a 'Christmas reminder' of the issues we face.
While vaccinations must be the No. 1 priority, I don't believe we can vaccinate our way out of this pandemic.
We must also learn to live with the virus and to me that means collectively being responsible for behaving appropriately, to try and contain its impact.
Thanks. Yes, I agree with you and I also don't believe we can vaccinate our way out of the pandemic.
Perhaps if the UK Government was open and honest about the vaccine, instead of making it out to be the panacea vaccine, we wouldn't just be relying on the vaccine.
Scientists continue to tell us that we need to continue with the physical precautionary measures and I agree with them. It's not right that we lag behind Scotland and Wales all the time.
I only go out with my FFP3 mask on. You can still catch Covid and Long-Covid vaccinated or not, therefore it is important to throw everything at the virus to try to reduce it.
