Evaluation plays a vital role in our lives, particularly in our working lives, but for us to be fully accountable and take responsibility, we need to have evaluation with full transparency.

Evaluation promotes acceptability and accountability

Evaluation is critical if we are to promote acceptability and accountability in society and in the world. We must evaluate our understanding on what we’re doing and whether what we're doing is right. We must also evaluate what the consequences will be, in evaluation around making our decisions.

Governments and Leaders are responsible

Governments and leaders through their decisions are totally responsible. Evaluation determines value and character in individuals, and in the workplace for those participating in evaluation, to reflect on intervention that helps inspire new ideas and energy, which leads to positive change, new initiatives and partnerships. Evaluation is the catalyst for change which means it’s an intervention in itself. The process for gathering information through evaluation needs to include the following:

Accountability

Accountability is achieved through conducting evaluations that accurately and fairly report on performance results.

Organised learning

Evaluation deals with answering difficult questions, such as whether governments, individuals, or organisations are doing the right things. Evaluation is an important source of evidence in identifying what works, what doesn’t and why. Acquired knowledge is generally found in the recommendations and lessons learned from evaluations.

It is important governments and organisations alike, provide a useful platform so that people understand, and can discuss how things they deal with need to be evaluated.

Inclusive Evaluation Processes

Inclusive evaluation processes help to build relationships as well as opportunities for further collaboration between people and groups and in institutions. Governments must evaluate their decisions so that they understand the connotations on the decisions they make, so we are safe. We're not seeing that right now.

  1. Evaluation also matters in our personal lives too. The 'what, why and when' is equally applicable to our relationship too.

Being realistic and respectful of others are good starting points in both.

    1. Thanks. Yes, you're right, it absolutely is. We must evaluate our relationships, particularly so we are respectful or others' opinions.

Too many people cross their boundaries in that respect. Our relationships shouldn't be about control and/or opinions and yet that is what most of us have.

There needs to be more mediation, give 'n' take. We also need to listen more so that we hear before we speak, rather than listen to give our opinion.
