Climate change is a reality and its effects are becoming more and more evident each day. As wildfires rage across the Mediterranean and parts of Southern Europe face the brunt of rising temperatures, it's time to wake up.

The CP Diary highlights, informs and discusses

I write about these things on my blog because they affect me. My blog sets to highlight, inform and discuss information that is being presented to us, to the world as well as writing about my own 'stuff'. It doesn't make for easy reading and it has become necessary. People are being displaced, homes are being destroyed, and animals are dying.

These things are happening in real time

I have autism. What is happening out there is affecting my mental health, so I include it in my blog. It's playing out in real time and it is beginning to affect each of us. It's not something to be ignored. It is essential, critical to take note, essential to act.

The science

"Climate change, namely rising average temperatures driven by human-generated emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, is contributing to droughts, too. Drought conditions across the contiguous United States as of August 10, 2021. Around 40% of the U.S. is experiencing drought." (Source: U.S. Drought Monitor/Drought.gov) (Source: yaleclimateconnectionssorg)

The effects of climate change are becoming more and more evident each day. As wildfires rage across the Mediterranean and parts of Southern Europe face the brunt of rising temperatures, it's time to be proactive.

Scientists and Climate Change

Scientists have been warning us about the consequences of climate change for years, and it's time for us to start taking their warnings seriously. We need to reduce our carbon emissions, invest in renewable energy, and work towards a sustainable future.

Denial doesn't change the facts

It may be difficult for some to accept these harsh truths, but denial doesn't change the facts. We need to face the reality of climate change head on, if we want to ensure a liveable planet for us now and future generations.

There are things we can do

As individuals, we can take small steps towards reducing our carbon footprint, such as using public transport, turning off lights when we're not in a room, and reducing our meat consumption.

Governments and corporations also need to step up

But we also need governments and corporations to step up and take responsibility for their actions. We need policies and regulations that prioritise the health of our planet over profit margins.

We have the knowledge and technology to address climate change. The only thing standing in our way is our own reluctance to act. It's time to wake up and take action before it's too late.

  1. Thank you for writing about these issues. The fact is, we are facing a real challenge for our own survival at our our hands. I have noticed changes in the weather in the UK since I was a child.

We now have milder, wetter weather all year round, so the boundaries between seasons are blurred. When I was a child I remember long, warm summers and cold, snowy winters.

The solutions are well understood. As individuals we need to play a part by making better choices about where we get our energy from, ie renewables, how we travel, and what food we eat.

But the best way for anyone to help stop climate change, is to take collective action by pressuring governments and corporations to change their policies.

In the UK, I am hoping a change in government next year will mark a major shift in national policy.

    1. Thanks for your response. You said it, there isn't anything to add. I hope the world is listening, taking note and changes what we all know is true.

The scientists are trying to talk to us, urgently. It is up to us and governments to listen before it's too late.
