"You struggle all your life to make sense of who you are, of your experiences, of something you later learn is a disability and those who knew didn't care to talk about it, let alone tell me.
Talking and writing about my experiences through The CP Diary, my blog, how I got to this place, has helped me address my pain, to come to terms with some of those experiences. I have mentally and emotionally struggled and I have been in pain.
Even though my struggles and experiences belong to me, they are universal. We all go through loss, emotional and physical difficulties, issues are something we all have to deal with. It's something we will all go through, just different experiences to mine.
How family react to what we go through and what their reactions are, are immaterial. It is important to validate your own experiences. Through my blog, my open and honest conversations have allowed me to understand my experiences, but mostly to understand me.
Having an open and honest conversation with myself has helped me to work on my healing. Talking about what we deal with, helps us to learn, grow and evolve as people. My blog allows me the freedom to heal and for others to think about healing also."
I can't claim credit for this as I remember reading something along these lines a while ago. Healing allows us to reclaim our power.
It gives us the opportunity to fit the pieces back together in such a way so that we are stronger than ever before, allowing us to define ourselves as survivors, not as victims.
Your blog is part of that. I think this says it all.
Thank you. Yes, the message is 'universal.' It works but we must work and think along the same lines.
We all have the opportunity to piece our lives back together and come through stronger, I believe that too. We can also define ourselves as a 'survivor' I believe that too.
With work on ourselves, we can find the freedom and heal at the same time. Freedom to choose for ourselves. Freedom through understanding, from changing who we are, to who we choose to become.
Through my journey I continue to prove we can. My blog gives us the opportunity and anyone can do it.
