The CP Diary is more than just a reflection of my life. It's a platform designed to connect, inspire and empower those who are also navigating their own path. For those who follow my blog and know my backstory, thank you. We all have one. By sharing my thoughts and feelings, I hope to provide insight into what it’s like to live with mental and physical disabilities, highlighting the challenges and some of the positives outcomes that continue to guide me forward.
Cerebral Palsy: Finding my Strength
It's been a difficult journey, but I'm also aware I wouldn't be doing what I am doing without having cerebral palsy. My early years were a mix of challenges not knowing I had something, let alone a disability. I had physical hurdles to endure around muscle tone issues and a shortened length leg, which culminated in therapy sessions that became a regular part of my life. Without the mental and emotional support I learned to focus on myself. Those early experiences taught me resilience.
Although it has all come too late – through writing, I am slowly learning to embrace my uniqueness, celebrating the small hollow victories. I say hollow, because even with the small victories, I am still doing it all on my own.
