Halloween Meringue Ghosts

Ingredients:

2 large free range egg whites

60g Caster sugar

60g Icing sugar

Melted dark chocolate or Writing Icing Pen

Method:

Place egg whites in a bowl and whist to stiff peaks

Mix the caster sugar with the icing sugar, then add to the egg whites 1 tbsp at a time, whisking back to form stiff peaks after each spoon of icing is added. Continue until all the sugar is added, then transfer the mixture to a piping bag

Pipe the ghost shapes on to a baking sheet and bake at 100c for 1 hour 30 mins until crisp

When completely cool, pipe faces onto the ghosts with a little melted dark chocolate or a writing icing pen

    1. They do look yummy! And it was halloween, what's not to like!! My only issue is, I'm not great with the texture. I remember mum making them with summer fruits.

  1. Well, Im glad I didn't make a batch of these as no-one came for 'trick or treat' even though we put a scary mask outside and lit a candle in the window. I loved Halloween when my children were young.

    We had a great time dressing up and collecting treats from neighbours, it was a fun thing to do, but it seems parents don't feel the same way anymore.

    1. Thanks, yes I have also noticed a change in behaviour. The world is changed, what you grew up with isn't what we have now. It's quite sad when you think about it. Those days seemed easier in some respects.

      The simple things were really simple. It's not the world that is complicated, it's the human species that makes it complicated.
