Something inspirational:

“Some people will not tolerate such emotional honesty in communication. They would rather defend their dishonesty on the grounds that it might hurt others. Therefore, having rationalized their phoniness into nobility, they settle for superficial relationships.”

  1. Honesty is very important to me. I need to be able to trust the people in my life.

I think I am an honest person myself. I don't remember telling many lies growing up. My husband doesn't tolerate lying at all, which is good because that means I can trust him even more.

    1. I agree with you. We have to be able to have people in our lives that we trust. To be trustworthy and to be trustful of others makes us better people.

  2. Yes, honesty is a very good thing in a relationship, but a lot of people can't handle it,so they end up in very superficial ones!

I grew up living with lies, so there are times when I don't really know the difference. I haven't really been that honest in my life as to what I really want for myself, which has made my life very unpleasant.

There are many times where I will avoid really telling the truth so I don't end up having a confrontation. I'm going to have to learn how to tell the truth and stand up for myself, or end up being very unhappy and miserable the rest of my life!

    1. What you have said Randy is totally appropriate and true. You'll never be truly happy if you don't speak out and be honest about your life and what you want from it.

I have learned, we cannot live by another person's rules because we don't want to have to deal with confrontation. Sometimes confrontation is necessary and has to happen so that we get to live our own lives.

We get one crack at life, living our lives around someone else will only lead, as you have rightly said, to us being more miserable.

As harsh as this sounds I believe it's time for you to act NOW and say what you feel you need to say.

    1. Thanks Brian. This quote is so true. Like you I also believe the truth will set us free, but that we all have to work at it in one form or another.

We're not always prepared to see and/or accept the truth. Sometimes it's just too difficult or we don't believe.

  3. I think we have all probably carefully chosen what we say and how we say it, rather than being brutally honest.

Some people appreciate a direct approach others not so much; although you may never actually get to where you really want to be by going round the houses.

    1. If someone cares enough and is being honest, what they say should be taken in good grace, because they know that person cares. We tell the truth because we care and shouldn't have to choose our words in that way.

It's usually the way we say things that get us into trouble, rather than what we say. I don't believe going round the houses will ever achieve the right results.

If we have to make a point, it's usually for a reason therefore we should be honest. Honesty will always pay dividends. That is my belief.
