We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are and that means our preconceptions will change the way we perceive the world, as opposed to the way we’re supposed to see the world.

That will also unfortunately, change the outcome and direction things will go in, whilst presenting us with an unfair bias, where we don't see how things are in reality. But that's our choice, perhaps something we need to change.

We need to see things as they are for the outcomes to be, as the universe seems them, not how we want the outcomes to be. How we want the outcome to be, isn't always how the universe thinks the outcome should be.

The Things We Want to Be True

  1. I agree we do tend to see what we want to see, rather than what we need to see; but we can all open our eyes so that we see and put aside our preconceptions and wouldn't the world be better for it?

    1. Thank you. Yes, the world would be a much better, more peaceful place for us all to live, animals included.

  2. While watching the news yesterday, I was thinking how incredibly irrational people are and how we are bound to ideological groups that have zero moral reasoning about anything. You cannot love this planet and hate the inhabitants at the same time.

Unfortunately, we see the world from our glass houses, which makes us identify only with groups we belong to; it's very difficult to see the world clearly like that.

    1. A very apt blog Tim! I think you're right. I can't help but think this is mostly down to culture. We seem more segregated now than ever.

Perhaps we all need to look outside the box, to try to understand other people and their lives and not be so critical. We're afraid that if we think outside the box, we'll be frowned upon; that others won't approve; that they'll have an opinion on it.

We must let people live their lives, without us having an opinion on how they choose to live it. It's not for us to comment on other people's lives.

  3. Sadly most people only see the world as they want to see it. They only see the bad things like, life sucks and then you die!

They don't realize that it is possible to see things differently if you really want to. I have been working on that myself in trying to focus more on the things I can change and not worry so much about the things I can't.

I don't want to be one of those people in the nursing home who ends up suffering until the very end, because they get stuck on thinking of all the things they didn't do when they had the chance.

The world isn't always such a dark place like it was when I was a kid and I didn't have a choice on how to see things.

    1. I agree Randy, yes we can do things differently if we want to. That's very much the key. Perhaps that's something we need to think about more. It can be a battle when lives start out negatively.

It's just important we find a way.
