Unfortunately, we don’t always journey through life without a care in the world. Things happen along the way that changes the status quo and changes us. I wish we could, but we’d all be different people then.

In times of stress we may feel flat, disconnected. We may struggle to focus and struggle to function. We’re emotionally stuck, we're in a funk. We must come to understand our disconnection. We’re in a funk, because we're either living with our thoughts in the past, or we’re holding on to something in our present that’s pulling us back to the past.

If we were to consciously connect with the thoughts we have unconsciously chosen to ignore for a good part of our lives, we would eventually pull ourselves out of a funk. We're often in one, because we have unconsciously chosen not to deal with our issues.

  1. Boy do I wish we could live in this world without a care in the world. I like the way you put it, being in a funk.

I think we all feel that way daily in some way or another. Sometimes we have to push ourselves to do what's best to get out of that spiraling emotional problem, even when we just want to go back to bed or do nothing.Do you know if people with CP have a higher chance of depression?

I find myself wondering about the past and in having a different future. Then I have to remember to live in the now in order to take care of the future.

    1. Thanks Bonnie. Your last paragraph is correct. We have to live in the here and now so that we can take care of our future without bringing our past into it with us.

I also agree with you that sometimes we have to push ourselves through those periods when we struggle to motivate ourselves. I do think there is also some truth about depression and dealing with something like Cerebral Palsy.

Whatever we have to deal with physically can have that effect on us.

  2. We all get in a funk every once in a while, it's part of being human.

It's all about recognising the signs and maybe sharing those feelings before they spiral.

    1. Thank you. Yes I agree. If we act soon enough I am sure we can turn our mood around with a little help from friends or family.

  3. During those times when I'm in a funk, I just have to push myself a bit more.

Even though I might feel emotionally tired, there's still my family depending on me. Fortunately, the funk passes.

    1. Thanks Maria. I'm so pleased the funk passes. Having a family does help, particularly when they're young.

I need to find more productive ways to bring myself out of mine. When I was a child nothing seemed to work. I don't admitting that I have always found that side of my life difficult.
